Now, Where to start?!
Electric Wedding is bought to you all by your sparkling hosts Emma & Charlotte who met in early 2007 at the ill-fated Woolworth’s Head Office when Charlotte joined the Buying Team. A month into the role & Emma moved to sit next to Charlotte following a familiar office re-shuffle. Here began many nights out, far too many bottles of white wine, daily relationship updates over Tea & a drama or 100 later… they had cemented their friendship & ultimately led them up the path to ElectricWedding.co.uk
When they met, Emma had not long since been dating a man we now know as her fiancé, Matthew, whilst Charlotte had just met her future husband & didn’t even know it…

Meet Charlotte.

It started with a kiss…
…. continued in top secret and led to a deeply loving & hilarious partnership that recently became an engagement.
On 1st September 2011, give or take a few days (I haven’t booked the venue yet!), I will become, Mrs L-D. Bliss.

I met Rob about 3 months into my new job at Woolworth HQ. After 5 months & several nights out, we started a secret office romance. There was plenty of exciting sneaking around, preferential sample treatment & getting in separate tube carriages, only to walk back to mine together.
After 2 interesting, tough & fantastic years, followed by 3 months of suggestive hinting, he proposed on 7th February 2010.

We aren’t a conventional, traditional or overly romantic couple, but we want a day that suits our style & personalities- informal, chic, delicious, relaxed & ultimately hilarious. We know why we are doing this & that’s what we want this day to be about- fun, family, friends & flowing champers!
Immediately I set about planning (If you don’t count the previous 6 months of fantasy planning)
So, feeling inspired & brimming with excitement, I scowered the web for inspiration, venues & table décor… only to be overwhelmed by confusing information & nothing that felt ‘real’. Everything out there is a final polished version of what was surely a chaotic journey?!
I felt like I had opened the wardrobe door & fallen into… The Hills.
Did no one have to lose a lot of weight & battle a skin condition before the big white dress or aren’t we supposed to mention it?!

Then I got a call from Emma, one of the funniest & dramatic people I know, who happened to be on the brink of hell, planning her own magical day….

Through our personal blogs, we will bring you the best products for you to pamper yourself, fabulous venues for all budgets & dreams plus an array of stylish & chic ideas to put the Electric Sparkle on your Day!
However, If you don’t just want to know about products & designs but want to laugh or cry your way through my wedding build up & how I’m mis-managing my budget, plan to get my wedding cake for free & how I have coped with the family drama, not to mention the sticky situations with my bridesmaids that have subsequently followed my engagement…

They call it a Fairytale-Ending, because that’s how it ends. Not how it begins…

Meet Emma.

Matt and I famously met at the Dogstar in Brixton, after I had been to a Primal Scream gig at Brixton academy. Three years later, after many ups, downs and in betweens, Matt proposed in Brockwell Park in London on November 22nd 2009 and we are getting married on July 23rd 2010.

The first day after I got engaged was the most perfect happy day and I remember smiling insanely at every one as I walked down the street, thinking I was the luckiest girl alive. And then it began…

A month later I was sat surrounded by a pile of wedding magazines in tears. The amount of questions I was being asked and decisions I had to make were overwhelming! Where? When? What? But worse still was the amount of decisions I was making based on pleasing other people. Everything I read seemed to make it worse. Things I never even imagined! What colour theme? What photographer? What wedding fragrance (what on earth was this)?! And then Charlotte got engaged and sure enough within a week she was in the same sinking bridal boat!

But then a strange thing happened. When there is more than one of you in the same situation, it suddenly stops being stressful and becomes… funny! Charlotte and I spent hours emailing each other with our dilemmas, until we realised that if we told everyone about them it may help other desperate yet potentially fabulous brides like ourselves.

Matt and I want a wedding that is F.U.N. We want a big colourful party with all our friends and family and we want to remember why we are doing it. I have spent hours of research looking for smaller suppliers and businesses to be part of my wedding posse, who can offer a more personalised service and who we can help in return by building up their business! And every time we find a unique, fabulous supplier who we think deserves a shout, we will add them to our Electric Directory, so you can use them too!

I am also planning my wedding in the relatively short time span of 7 months, so I will be bringing you updates from the wedding front line on how that’s going, and easy advice on how you can do that too!.

In Emma’s Electric Dreams I promise to tell you all the highs and all the lows of my wedding diary – and get your advice along the way!

So here we go. Remove the ‘standard’ from your wedding plans. Welcome to Electric Wedding.
